Manchester City Signs Allan Elias for £34.2m

Manchester City have moved quickly to fill the Savio-shaped hole in their attack, completing the signing of winger Allan Elias from Palmeiras in a deal worth up to £34.2m.

City will pay an initial £32m, with a further £2.2m in add-ons, for the 22-year-old Brazilian, who has agreed a five-year contract at the Etihad. He arrives as a direct replacement for compatriot Savio, who sealed a £75m switch to Tottenham Hotspur last week.

Allan comes in as a right-sided winger with a sharp end product. Raised in the Palmeiras academy, he broke into the first team and went on to make 96 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals and supplying 12 assists for the Brazilian giants.

"This is a surreal moment for me. Manchester City, with everything they have won over the past 15 years, are one of the most attractive clubs in the world for players," Allan said. "To be able to sit here today and say I have joined them is the proudest moment of my life.

"I love Palmeiras and always will - but the decision to come to City was an easy one. I want to be the best footballer I can be and the conversations I've had with the people at City so far has convinced me there isn't a better place for me to fulfil my ambitions."

Maresca’s rebuild gathers pace

Allan becomes the latest piece in what has turned into a sweeping summer overhaul under Enzo Maresca.

City have already spent more than £230m in this window. Elliot Anderson arrived from Nottingham Forest for £116m, while highly rated midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi joined from Lille in an £85.6m deal. Now Allan’s fee adds another significant outlay to a squad being aggressively reshaped.

The spending, though, has been underpinned by major departures.

City have generated over £286m in player sales, led by 2026 World Cup Golden Ball winner Rodri, who completed a £65m move to Barcelona. Tijani Reijnders has also left, joining Al-Qadsiah for £52m as part of the clear-out.

And they are not done yet. Talks are ongoing with Liverpool over Dutch forward Cody Gakpo, while City remain keen on Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez as Maresca looks to refine both his forward line and midfield.

Allan’s arrival, the outgoing of established stars, and the scale of the numbers involved all point in one direction: City are not just refreshing a title-winning squad, they are trying to build the next one.
