Liverpool closing in on Bradley Barcola transfer deal
Liverpool are moving towards one of the most eye-catching deals of the summer, with talks over Bradley Barcola’s move from PSG to Anfield now deep into the decisive phase, according to reports in France.
Loïc Tanzi of L’Équipe reports that the France international is “expected to become the biggest transfer of a Ligue 1 player to a foreign club”, a line that underlines the sheer scale of what Liverpool are trying to pull off. At 23, Barcola is being lined up as a headline addition to an attack that the club want to overhaul in a single window.
Liverpool are understood to be targeting at least two attacking signings before the deadline, with Barcola one of the primary names on the list and a third offensive recruit also under consideration.
PSG stand firm – but the price is dropping
The saga has dragged on, but it finally feels like it’s heading for a conclusion.
PSG are not rolling over. The French champions have held a hard line in recent hours, sticking to a €140m (£119.7m) valuation, as Tanzi reported on social media on August 24. That figure still places Barcola among the most expensive exports in Ligue 1 history.
It is, however, a significant climbdown from the peak of negotiations, when his price was understood to be around €170m (£145.3m). The gap has narrowed. The deal feels more real.
PSG’s latest stance also nudges Barcola’s price closer to the benchmark set by recent Premier League business: Manchester City’s move for Elliot Anderson at £116m and Chelsea’s deal for Morgan Rogers at £117m. Those transfers have clearly shaped the conversation, giving Paris a yardstick and Liverpool a reference point.
Amid all that, the player’s camp is increasingly confident. Barcola and his entourage are thought to believe an agreement with Andoni Iraola’s side will be reached. That optimism has been a constant undercurrent as the numbers have shifted.
It has been a long, drawn-out pursuit. Liverpool now look closer than ever to getting it over the line.
Seven days, three signings, and a race against time

Holes in midfield and at right-back
Liverpool’s push for firepower is coming at a time when other areas look worryingly thin.
Central midfield remains light. Inside the club, there is a belief that Iraola can patch up the glaring issues in that area with the players already in the building. It is a bold call. The head coach is convinced he can make the structure work.
Right-back is even more precarious. Jeremie Frimpong stands as the only senior option in that position, a risky starting point for a club with Liverpool’s ambitions and schedule. One injury, one suspension, and the entire balance of the back line shifts.
Whichever way the numbers are sliced, the squad looks short – certainly for the first half of the 2026/27 campaign.
