Liverpool Pursue Bradley Barcola as PSG Star Considers Anfield Move

Liverpool have accelerated their move for Bradley Barcola, sensing a rare opening to prise one of France’s emerging World Cup stars away from Paris Saint-Germain.

The 23-year-old forward, a key part of France’s World Cup squad and already on the scoresheet in their opening game, is open to leaving PSG, with Liverpool pushing hard to make Anfield his next stage.

An attack in transition

Liverpool’s forward line is being ripped up and rewritten.

Mo Salah has gone. Hugo Ekitike faces a long spell out injured. Cody Gakpo, once central to the previous regime, is being linked with an exit after Arne Slot’s sacking and the arrival of Andoni Iraola.

The club has already moved decisively in the market. Victor Munoz has arrived in a £34million deal. An eye-watering £86m bid for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande was knocked back without hesitation.

But the search hasn’t stopped there. Barcola is firmly on their list.

According to French outlet Le10 Sport, Liverpool have made a fresh attempt to land the France international, who struck late in Les Bleus’ 3-1 win over Senegal in their World Cup opener. Those close to the player say the idea of Anfield appeals: the project, the stage, the Premier League itself.

The timing feels significant. Barcola followed up that cameo goal by starting France’s rain-lashed 3-0 victory over Iraq on Monday, further underlining his growing stature on the international scene.

PSG ready to listen – if Barcola pushes

Inside PSG, the stance is shifting.

The European champions are prepared to sanction Barcola’s departure if he formally asks to leave. They have already drawn up a list of possible replacements, a clear sign that they are bracing for serious offers rather than brushing them aside.

Arsenal have also been credited with interest. Barcola joined PSG from Lyon three years ago in a deal worth up to £43m, and his numbers since then explain why the French giants would demand a premium fee: 39 goals and 35 assists in 152 appearances.

Luis Enrique has consistently talked him up, publicly nailing his colours to the mast last season.

“I have no doubt he'll remain our player,” the PSG manager said at the time. “We like the fact that our players are interesting to other clubs. But he's one of those young players we've been banking on. I expect him to play here for many more years.”

Those words still echo. The market, though, has a way of testing every conviction.

Liverpool’s pitch

From Liverpool’s side, the attraction is obvious.

They need goals. They need pace. They need a wide forward comfortable both finishing moves and creating them, someone who can stretch a back line and still link play.

Barcola ticks those boxes. At 23, he also fits the club’s preferred age profile: young enough to develop, proven enough to deliver now.

For the player, the lure is different but just as powerful. A starring role in a rebuilt attack. The noise of Anfield on European nights. The chance to turn World Cup momentum into a permanent place in the Premier League spotlight.

PSG will not let him go cheaply, and Arsenal’s presence in the background ensures there will be no easy route to a deal. But Liverpool have already shown with the Diomande bid that they are willing to spend heavily to reshape their front line.

Barcola, for the moment, is saying little. His goals and performances are doing the talking.

The real question now is simple: when this World Cup ends and the dust settles, will he be walking back into the Parc des Princes dressing room – or into a new life under the lights at Anfield?
