Kylian Mbappé Joins Swiss Brand On in Bold Football Move

Kylian Mbappé has ended his long-running partnership with Nike and signed with Swiss sportswear brand On, a move that signals a bold new play in the football market from the Zurich-based company.

The France captain, who has been with Nike since the start of his professional career, becomes the face of On’s first major step into the world’s biggest sport. The brand confirmed the deal on Friday, framing it as the beginning of its football era alongside one of the game’s most influential figures.

“Today, Swiss sportswear brand On announces its entry into football alongside football champion Kylian Mbappe, marking the beginning of the brand’s journey into the world’s biggest sport,” read the company statement.

For Mbappé, this is more than just a logo switch.

“From the beginning, what drew me to On was the opportunity to build something entirely new together that will help shape tomorrow’s game,” he said, outlining his vision for the partnership. He spoke of wanting to inject his “experience and perspective” into the products, to “push what’s possible through innovation, and always stay true to the joy of football.

“We have a shared dream, and this is only the beginning.”

On did not disclose the value or length of Mbappé’s contract, but the intent is clear. Founded in 2010 and best known for its running and tennis footwear, the brand is no longer content to stay in its lane.

To underline that shift, On has appointed 1998 World Cup winner Thierry Henry as its football director. The former France and Arsenal star will help steer the company’s strategy in a sport he knows as well as anyone.

On already carries heavyweight credibility in another arena. Tennis great Roger Federer is among its shareholders, having also broken away from Nike late in his playing career to align with the Swiss brand.

Now Mbappé follows a similar path, fronting On’s push from the track and court onto the pitch. The question is no longer whether the company is serious about football. It’s how quickly it can turn this star-powered entry into a lasting presence in the game.
