Juventus Loan Newcastle's Nick Woltemade to Reshape Attack

Juventus have struck a deal to take Newcastle United forward Nick Woltemade on a season-long loan, moving quickly to reshape their attack before Tuesday’s deadline.

The 24-year-old, signed by Newcastle from Stuttgart in August 2025, is expected in Turin for a medical after the clubs agreed a £3.5m fee. The agreement is a straight loan with no option to buy, a key detail in a market where obligations and clauses have complicated several moves.

Juventus choose Woltemade over Zirkzee

Juventus have been hunting for a new forward with Jonathan David poised to join Atletico Madrid on loan. At one stage, Joshua Zirkzee looked the likeliest arrival in Turin. Talks were held with Manchester United, especially after his proposed switch to Fiorentina collapsed.

Then the numbers bit back.

United wanted an obligation-to-buy clause attached to any Zirkzee loan. Juventus walked away and turned to Woltemade, who they regard as a better tactical fit and, just as importantly, a cheaper one. The structure of the deal, with no forced purchase at the end, gives them flexibility in a summer where every euro is being counted.

Newcastle’s record signing on the move

Woltemade leaves Tyneside at an awkward moment in his Newcastle career. He is the club’s £69m record signing, but under new manager Matthias Jaissle he has started just one of the opening three matches.

His most recent contribution was a reminder of his quality. Coming off the bench at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, he set up Yoane Wissa’s goal in a 2-0 away win, a performance that suggested he still had a role to play.

Newcastle, though, have been planning around a different attacking profile.

Fernandez-Pardo arrival opens the door

The path to Italy cleared once Newcastle accelerated their move for Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo. BBC Sport had already indicated that his arrival could unlock Woltemade’s departure, and the timeline has followed that script.

Fernandez-Pardo flew into Tyneside on Monday evening to finalise a transfer worth up to £55m. With that deal close, Newcastle were prepared to sanction Woltemade’s loan, trusting their new signing to shoulder a significant share of the attacking burden.

So Woltemade heads for Turin, Juventus get their forward without a long-term financial commitment, and Newcastle roll into the season with a reshaped front line and a record signing trying to relaunch his story in Serie A.
