Jon Aramburu is fast becoming one of the most closely-watched full-backs in Europe – and the Premier League’s elite are circling.
Liverpool and Manchester City have stepped up their interest in the Real Sociedad defender, with a string of other English clubs also tracking the Venezuela international as his reputation in LaLiga soars.
Premier League scouts swarm over LaLiga breakout star
At 24, Aramburu has grown into one of LaLiga’s standout full-backs at Real Sociedad, where his form through 2026 has triggered a surge in scouting visits from England.
He is, first and foremost, a defender. Coaches value his one‑v‑one strength, his timing in the tackle and his positional discipline. But he is not limited to sitting deep. Aramburu has also shown he can push on, support attacks and deliver from wide areas, giving him the kind of two-way profile Premier League clubs crave.
His versatility only sharpens the appeal. Naturally a right-back, the Venezuelan can also switch to the left when required, offering managers tactical flexibility and cover across the back line.
Clubs in England have taken notice. Recruitment teams have increased their checks throughout the year, with Aramburu’s performances for La Real putting him firmly on multiple Premier League shortlists.
Man City and Liverpool run the rule over Aramburu
Manchester City are among the most serious admirers. The champions have been weighing up options for a new right-back and have already carried out detailed checks on Aramburu as part of that process.
During the summer they explored several possibilities, including Chelsea’s Malo Gusto and Tottenham Hotspur’s Tino Livramento. Aramburu sat on that same radar, his defensive reliability and ability to operate on either flank matching the profile City’s staff have been studying.
Liverpool have also done their homework. Club sources indicate that the reports coming back on Aramburu have been glowing, with his defensive nous and adaptability seen as major assets.
The Reds have been scanning the full-back market and, among the names assessed, Aramburu’s stood out to their recruitment team. His balance of defensive security and positional flexibility fits the template Liverpool have often targeted in recent years.
They are not alone. Tottenham, Newcastle United, Everton and Fulham all ran the rule over Aramburu in the summer window, adding to the growing queue of potential suitors.
That level of interest underlines how far he has come. From Deportivo La Guaira in Venezuela, through Real Union and then Real Sociedad’s B team, Aramburu has climbed steadily, step by step, to establish himself as an important figure in Imanol Alguacil’s senior side.
£50m clause sets the bar
Real Sociedad tied Aramburu down to a long-term deal running to 2030, a contract that gives the Basque club a strong hand in any negotiations over his future.
There is, though, a clear route out. TEAMtalk understands the contract includes a release clause in the region of £50 million, giving Premier League clubs a firm idea of what it would take to prise him away from San Sebastián.
Manchester City have already completed their initial assessments as they weigh up right-back options. Liverpool, too, have gone through their evaluation process and received consistently strong feedback.
With Tottenham, Newcastle, Everton and Fulham all having taken a close look, the stage is set for genuine competition if any of those clubs decide to turn interest into a formal bid.
For now, Aramburu remains committed to Real Sociedad and focused on his role in LaLiga. But with his name now a regular feature on Premier League recruitment lists, the question is no longer whether England’s biggest clubs have noticed him – it is which of them will move first.
