Jeremy Doku Signs New Five-Year Deal with Manchester City
Jeremy Doku has committed his prime years to Manchester City, signing a new five-year contract that ties him to the Premier League champions until at least 2031.
For City’s new head coach Enzo Maresca, it is a statement signing without spending a penny.
Doku chooses City – and Maresca
Since arriving from Rennes in 2023, Doku has grown from raw excitement into one of the league’s most explosive wide forwards. His numbers back it up: 22 goals and 34 assists in 131 appearances, delivered while City swept up the Premier League, Club World Cup, FA Cup and League Cup.
The 24-year-old was clear about why he wanted to stay. The club, the work, and now, the new man in charge.
“I have loved my time at City so far, so to have the opportunity to stay for longer is a fantastic feeling,” Doku said after signing. “This club means so much to me – I have developed as both a player and a person. I feel settled here, and I know I am improving every day because of the work the staff here do.
“With Enzo here now I am really excited about the new season. His style of football is the kind we love, so that's exciting for the players.”
Maresca steps into one of the most demanding jobs in football, replacing Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium, and he does so with one of his key attacking weapons locked in long term. The Premier League campaign kicks off on August 21, and Doku is now firmly at the heart of those plans.
A winger built for City’s future
Doku’s acceleration and directness have given City a different edge in wide areas, and inside the club his evolution has not gone unnoticed.
City’s director of football Hugo Viana underlined just how highly they rate him.
“Jeremy is a huge talent whose improvement since joining us in 2023 is clear for all to see,” Viana said. “He has a special dynamic. He has the right characteristics for what we are looking for in a winger. He really does bring a special quality to our team.
“He deserves this new deal, and I know he will continue his improvement in the coming months and years.”
That “special dynamic” also stretches to the international stage. Doku has already collected 48 caps for Belgium and featured at the most recent World Cup, a reminder that City are not just securing a club star but one of Europe’s leading international wingers.
For Maresca, inheriting a squad that has already conquered almost everything, keeping Doku in Manchester might be as important as any new arrival. The Italian wants front-foot, aggressive football. Doku lives in those moments.
