Ismael Saibari Impresses on Bayern Munich Debut

Ismael Saibari needed only a few minutes in a Bayern Munich shirt to show exactly why the club pushed to bring him to Bavaria.

Thrown on in the 71st minute of a pre-season friendly against RB Leipzig, the Moroccan midfielder stepped into a game Bayern already controlled and added his own imprint to a 3-1 win. Ten minutes later, he had his moment: a sharp, decisive assist for Jamal Musiala in the 81st minute, sealing Bayern’s third goal and underlining the club’s excitement about their new signing.

The reaction from Bayern was instant. The club’s official channels spent Saturday hailing Saibari’s debut, highlighting the move that set up Musiala and welcoming him properly to the squad after his first appearance in red. For a friendly in August, the noise around one substitute appearance was loud.

The cameo carried extra weight given his recent path. Saibari only just rejoined full training with the group, having worked individually to recover from the injury he suffered at the 2026 World Cup. That setback forced him to miss Morocco’s quarter-final defeat to France (2-0), a harsh end to a tournament in which he had scored three times and emerged as one of his country’s standout performers.

Bayern moved quickly this summer to secure him from PSV Eindhoven, tying him down on a long-term deal that runs until 2031. It was a statement contract for a player still stepping onto the elite stage, and his first 20 minutes in a Bayern shirt did nothing to cool the anticipation.

There was one cloud on the evening. Musiala, the beneficiary of Saibari’s assist and the game’s third goalscorer, had to leave the pitch in the 86th minute after suffering a sudden setback, cutting short what had been an impressive outing.

For Saibari, though, the night marked a clean beginning: a new club, a long contract, and an early contribution that will only fuel the sense that Bayern have added another serious weapon to their attacking arsenal.
