Inter Milan Intensifies Pursuit of Curtis Jones
Inter Milan’s pursuit of Curtis Jones is beginning to move from background noise to a live track in this summer’s transfer window.
The Italian champions are working on an exit for Davide Frattesi, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Lazio have formally approached Inter for the midfielder. If that deal advances, it could open the door for Jones to swap Anfield for San Siro.
The strategy is clear: clear space, then strike.
Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari of TV Dello Sport reports that Jones remains Inter’s priority target for the middle of the park, and that the interest runs both ways. Inter, he says, intend to go back to the table with Liverpool once they make progress on outgoing deals such as Frattesi.
“Curtis Jones remains Inter's first choice for the midfield. The ongoing work on the departures (Frattesi and others) will lead the Nerazzurri to relaunch talks with Liverpool to get closer to the Reds' demands,” Longari stated.
Crucially for Inter, the player is already on board. Jones has given the green light to the move and wants the transfer, leaving the clubs to fight it out over numbers.
Liverpool hold the cards on the fee. Inter hold the player’s will. The next move belongs to the Nerazzurri’s negotiators.
