Inter Milan Nears £30m Deal for Curtis Jones

Inter Milan are edging towards a deal for Curtis Jones that could bring the Liverpool midfielder’s time at Anfield to an end for around £30m.

The Italian champions saw an initial verbal offer of 25m euros (£21.7m) rejected in June, with Liverpool holding out closer to their £35m valuation for the 25-year-old, who is entering the final year of his contract. Now, the two clubs are understood to be circling around a compromise figure of about 35m euros (£30m), a level that could unlock an agreement.

Sources in Italy believe a verbal understanding is already in place. Both clubs, though, maintain that key details still need to be thrashed out before anything can be signed off.

Liverpool are prepared to cash in on Jones if the structure of the deal matches the £30m package Inter paid Tottenham for Djed Spence. That move has effectively become the benchmark for negotiations, with the Serie A side again ready to back their interest with serious money.

Inter’s pursuit is not new. They tried to prise Jones away in January with a loan offer that included an option to buy, only for Liverpool to knock it back. This time, they are pushing for a permanent transfer.

Jones has been a long-serving presence in Liverpool’s squad since his debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2019, amassing 228 appearances in all competitions. Last season he featured 49 times, but only 18 of those were Premier League starts as he struggled to secure a guaranteed place in Arne Slot’s midfield.

Now, with one year left on his deal and Inter pressing hard, Liverpool look ready to listen – at the right price.
