Hull City Condemns Racist Abuse of New Signing Robinio Vaz

Hull City have condemned what they describe as “abhorrent racist abuse” aimed at new signing Robinio Vaz after announcing his arrival on social media.

The club revealed the 19-year-old French striker’s season-long loan from Roma in a post on Tuesday. The announcement was quickly overshadowed by a stream of discriminatory messages, and the post has since been deleted.

Hull responded by moving the issue beyond the online sphere. The club confirmed they are working with Humberside Police and other authorities to track down those responsible for what they called “disgusting abuse”.

“No individual should ever experience discriminatory abuse”

In a strongly worded statement, the club stressed that they pledge full backing for the teenager as he begins his spell in English football.

Hull underlined their “zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of discrimination” and said that, over the past 24 hours, they have been in contact with the Premier League, anti-discrimination organisation Kick It Out and the relevant social media companies as they push for action.

“We stand with Robinio and encourage all supporters to continue to report any form of discrimination,”

Vaz, who scored once in Serie A last season, joins on loan with an option to buy at the end of the campaign, arriving at Hull with his footballing future opening up just as the club is forced to confront an all-too-familiar problem off the pitch.
