Holywell Town Fights Back for Draw Against Trefelin
Holywell Town finally have something to show for their return to the top flight – but they had to claw their way back to get it.
Trailing at home to fellow promoted side Trefelin, the hosts were staring at a fourth straight defeat until Harvey Morris struck eight minutes from time to salvage a 1-1 draw. The point eases some of the early-season anxiety at Halkyn Road, even if Holywell still sit bottom of the table.
The visitors had gone in front on the hour with the game’s standout moment. Louis Phillips spotted the keeper off his line and executed a superb lob from the edge of the box, a precise, looping finish that silenced the home support and put Trefelin on course for their first win at this level.
Holywell refused to fold. The pressure gradually built and, with time running out, Morris found the breakthrough to deny Trefelin that elusive victory. The goal secures Holywell’s first point of the campaign; for Trefelin, it is another lesson in how unforgiving this division can be.
Peers and Calland fire Airbus, Clarke punishes Flint
At Old Road, Airbus continued their encouraging start with a controlled 2-0 win, built on the sharp finishing of George Peers and the composure of Oliver Calland.
Peers struck first, his third goal in three games, turning in from close range after a low cross from Jordan Evans on 20 minutes. The pattern barely changed after the break. Three minutes into the second half, a swift counter-attack cut through the hosts and Calland arrived to claim his first goal for the Wingmakers, sealing the points with a cool finish.
Caernarfon Town’s rise gathered pace as they swept aside struggling Flint Town United 3-0, with former Flint forward Zack Clarke again at the heart of it.
Clarke broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time, a painful moment for his old club, then struck again seven minutes after the restart to move his personal tally to nine for the season. Flint never recovered. Osian Evans, in prolific form himself, added Caernarfon’s third to cap a dominant display and push the Cofis up to fourth.
For Flint, still without a win and marooned in 15th, the problems are starting to stack up.
Cambrian fightback stuns Cardiff Met
In the capital, Cardiff Met let a two-goal lead slip as Cambrian United mounted a spirited comeback to claim a 2-2 draw at Cyncoed.
The students looked in control when Spencer Dymond-Hall’s header in first-half stoppage time gave them a deserved lead. When Sam Jones doubled the advantage early in the second half, Met appeared to be cruising.
Cambrian had other ideas. Seven minutes after Jones’ strike, Alex John pulled one back to change the mood of the contest. The visitors grew in belief, and Liam Williams’ side were level when Harrison Bright drilled in from the edge of the area, a precise low strike that dragged Cambrian all the way back into the game.
The drama wasn’t done. Met had the chance to win it from the spot, but CJ Craven missed his penalty, leaving both sides to settle for a point on a night when momentum swung wildly and neither team quite found the ruthless edge to finish the job.
