After a flat, fifth-place finish in the Premier League last season and another campaign that fell short of expectations, Liverpool always knew this window had to bite. Three signings have arrived, yet the squad still feels halfway through surgery rather than fully rebuilt.
Amid that wider reset, Elliott’s future has been hanging in the air. Now, according to Spanish outlet Deportes Cope Valencia, Liverpool are ready to strike a deal with Valencia over a loan move for the midfielder.
“Valencia speeds up for ELLIOTT,” the report stated on X. “Trying to advance the loan of the Liverpool player, on which they’ve been working for days. The clubs want to make it happen, but the key remains the player’s salary.”
The intention on both sides is clear: Liverpool want him playing, Valencia want him in their shirt. The numbers, as so often, are the final obstacle.
From Klopp favourite to the fringes
Elliott’s trajectory has veered sharply off course over the past couple of seasons.
Under Jurgen Klopp, the Englishman was a symbol of Liverpool’s next wave. He was trusted, regularly involved, and often one of the first names on the team sheet when rotation kicked in. There was a sense of inevitability about his rise.
That feeling has vanished.
Under Arne Slot and Andoni Iraola, Elliott has never truly found his place. Systems changed, roles shifted, and his influence shrank. Now, with Liverpool reshaping again after another underwhelming year, he stands closer to the exit than the starting XI.

Elliott still couldn’t force his way through it.
That failure to grab the opportunity stung supporters. With Florian Wirtz struggling last season and Mohamed Salah now gone, there should have been room for a creative, left-footed attacker to stake a claim. The pathway was there. Elliott never quite stepped onto it.
