Glentoran Edges Linfield in Women's Irish Cup Semi-Final

Glentoran booked their place in the Women's Irish Cup semi-finals with a hard-fought 2-1 win over fierce rivals Linfield at the Blanchflower Stadium, thanks to a decisive double from Naomi McLaughlin.

With the tie finely balanced and tension building, McLaughlin stepped up twice for Kim Turner’s side. She broke the deadlock on 36 minutes, finishing to give Glentoran a deserved lead after a cagey opening spell.

Linfield hit back. Cora Chambers hauled the Blues level, restoring hope for the home side and swinging the momentum their way as the game opened up.

But the night belonged to McLaughlin. With just eight minutes left on the clock, she struck again, her second goal pushing Glentoran over the line and into the final four at the expense of their biggest rivals.

Cliftonville cruise past Derry City

Holders Cliftonville moved through with far less drama, easing to a 3-0 victory over Derry City.

An early own goal set the champions on their way, settling any nerves and giving them control of the tie almost from the outset. The Reds never looked back.

Teegan Lynch added a second to tighten Cliftonville’s grip before the interval, and after the restart Louise McDaniel struck to complete a professional, controlled performance from the cup holders, who look in no mood to relinquish their crown.

Crusaders Strikers hold off champions Sion Swifts

At Seaview, Crusaders Strikers had to dig deep to see off Sion Swifts, the side who have already sealed the Championship title, in a 2-1 battle.

Ali Nelson put the Premiership outfit in front, and when Rebecca Bassett doubled the advantage, Crusaders seemed to be cruising towards the semi-finals.

Sion Swifts refused to fold. Substitute Caoimhe Heron pulled one back to set up a tense finish, but Crusaders absorbed the pressure and saw the game out, their resilience securing a place in the last four.

Lisburn complete last-four line-up

Lisburn claimed the final semi-final spot with a narrow 1-0 win over Ballymena United, completing a compelling quartet for the Women's Irish Cup semi-finals.

With Glentoran, holders Cliftonville, Crusaders Strikers and Lisburn all through, the competition moves into its decisive phase with no shortage of storylines still to be written.
