Inter Milan Signs Curtis Jones for £30m Deal

Inter Milan have sealed the signing of Curtis Jones from Liverpool in a deal worth up to £30m, drawing a firm line under the midfielder’s long Anfield story and opening a fresh one in Serie A.

The Italian champions will pay an initial £25.7m, with a further £4.3m tied to performance-related add-ons. Liverpool have also secured a 10% sell-on clause, protecting their stake in any future move. Jones has signed a contract at San Siro running until 2031, a clear sign Inter see him as a long-term piece of their midfield.

For Liverpool, this is the end of a 16-year relationship. Jones joined the club’s academy at the age of nine and rose through the ranks before making his senior debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2019. From promising youngster to first-team regular, he amassed 228 appearances in all competitions for the Reds.

Last season under Klopp, and then Arne Slot, he featured 49 times across all fronts. Only 18 of those, though, came as Premier League starts. As competition intensified and with Jones heading into the final year of his contract, his place in the pecking order slipped. The club chose to cash in rather than risk losing him for less later.

The move suits all sides. Liverpool bank a significant fee and retain a future interest. Inter add another technically gifted, press-resistant midfielder to Simone Inzaghi’s options. Jones, still only 25, gets the platform of the Serie A champions and the chance to reset his career outside the Premier League spotlight.

He also continues a growing trend. Jones becomes the latest English player to head to Inter this summer, part of a broader wave of talent testing itself in Italy. Now the question is simple: can the boy who grew up in Liverpool’s academy become a central figure in Inter’s next title push?
