Gabriel Martinelli Rejects Galatasaray Move This Summer

Gabriel Martinelli has no intention of leaving Arsenal for Galatasaray this summer, despite a sizeable offer on the table from the Turkish champions.

According to The Athletic, Galatasaray have submitted a bid worth €45 million (around £38.4 million) for the Brazilian winger. Arsenal have been informed, but the answer from the player’s camp is clear: he does not want the move.

Arsenal open to offers, player isn’t

Martinelli’s contract at the Emirates runs until 2027, with Arsenal holding an option to extend it by a further year to 2028. Talks over a fresh renewal have not started, and at 25 he remains one of the players the club could, in theory, consider selling if a particularly strong offer arrived.

That’s the club’s stance. The player’s is very different. He has no desire to leave North London in this window.

Arsenal entered the summer knowing they needed to generate funds. Balancing the books has already seen Leandro Trossard depart for Besiktas in a €20 million deal, while Christian Norgaard has joined Everton for £7 million. The feeling inside the club is that more outgoing business will still be required before the window closes.

So far, though, Martinelli is resisting being part of that solution.

Competition on the flanks, but no exit push

The Gunners have been active in wide areas. Greek winger Christos Tzolis has arrived from Club Brugge, and the club also explored an ambitious move for Vinicius Junior before he committed his future to Real Madrid.

On paper, that could have placed a question mark over Martinelli’s long-term role. On the pitch, his numbers still carry weight. Signed from Brazilian side Ituano in 2019, he has racked up 278 first-team appearances and scored 62 goals for Arsenal.

Last season he featured in 53 matches across all competitions, contributing 11 goals and 7 assists in a campaign where Arsenal were crowned Premier League champions and reached the Champions League final.

Those are not the figures of a fringe player. They are the profile of a winger who believes his story at Arsenal is far from finished — even as the market keeps knocking.
