Ferran Torres Set for PSG Move as Barcelona Clears Path
Ferran Torres edges closer to Paris Saint-Germain with every passing hour, and Barcelona’s latest move has effectively cleared the runway for his departure.
The two clubs already have an initial agreement in place for the Spain international. What began as routine talks has turned into a late-window sprint: bids flying back and forth, clauses tweaked, numbers reworked. The haggling has finally produced a framework everyone can live with.
The clearest sign came at training.
Barca open the door
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona allowed Torres to skip Thursday’s session, the second consecutive day he has been absent from group work. He was due back with Hansi Flick’s squad on Wednesday. Instead, at 26, he is using that time to tie up his move to PSG, with the full approval of a club negotiating his exit in parallel.
This is no disciplinary matter. It is a strategic decision. Barcelona have chosen not to pull him back into Flick’s plans while the deal with the French champions moves towards completion.
While Torres stayed away, the training ground still told its own story.
Pau Cubarsi, Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal all joined up with the group at the start of Wednesday’s session, key pieces for Flick as he shapes his first Barcelona side. Pedri Gonzalez continued his recovery work in the gym, keeping off the grass but remaining firmly in the club’s core plans.
Futures on hold
Lower down the pecking order, the mood is very different. Marc Casado, Hector Fort, Jofre Torrents, Toni Fernandez and Gerard Martin continue to work away from the main group, stuck in a holding pattern while they wait for clarity on their futures. For them, the market is a maze, not a runway.
Their situation is described as complicated, and it shows in the way they train: present, involved, but not truly part of Flick’s inner circle.
The reserve ranks still feeding directly into the first-team sessions include goalkeeper Aron Yaakobishvili, who is himself close to a move to Almeria. Alongside him are centre-back Alvaro Cortes, right-back Xavi Espart, left-back Jordi Pesquer, midfielders Ibrahima Toncara, Aurin Gorin and Brian Farinas, and striker Hamza Abdelkarim.
They train under Flick’s command, trying to seize an opening while the senior squad reshapes around them.
Torres, though, is on a different track now. With Barcelona easing him out of the daily routine and PSG waiting at the other end, the question no longer feels like “if” he leaves – only when the deal finally drops.
