Ferran Torres was missing from FC Barcelona training for the second straight day on Thursday, and this time the reason is clear: his future lies in Paris.
The 26-year-old forward, who had been scheduled to rejoin Hansi Flick’s sessions on Wednesday, still has permission from the club to stay away as he finalises a move to PSG with Barcelona’s approval. The absence is no longer a mystery; it is a transfer in its final stretch.
Deal with PSG almost wrapped up
Talks between Barcelona and the French and European champions are now in the decisive phase. Multiple well-sourced reports agree: the agreement is practically done.
The two clubs are ironing out the last details of a package worth around €55 million, including add-ons. On the player’s side, everything is already aligned. Ferran has an agreement in place with PSG, and Luis Enrique has already drawn up a plan for how to slot him into the squad.
So while Flick puts his players through their paces at the training ground, Ferran waits on the sidelines, literally, for the final signatures. No boots on the grass, no risk of injury. Just the quiet wait before a major move.
World Cup winners filter back in
While one Spain international edges towards the exit, others are stepping back into the rhythm.
Of the four World Cup players who returned on Wednesday and initially worked on individual programmes, three made the jump to full group training at the start of Thursday’s session: Pau Cubarsi, Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal all joined their teammates on the pitch.
Pedri did not. The midfielder stayed in the gym, continuing his tailored workload and skipping the on-pitch session as the staff manage his return carefully.

Away from the main group, another story is unfolding – less glamorous, far more uncertain.
Marc Casado, Hector Fort, Jofre Torrents, Tommy Marques, Guille Fernandez and Toni Fernandez are all training separately as they wait for clarity over their futures. For now, they sit in a holding pattern while the club trims numbers and Flick’s plans take shape.
It is an awkward spot: close enough to the first team to feel the pull, far enough away to know a move might be coming. Barcelona want to reduce the size of the squad and find exits for those not in the new coach’s long-term vision. These six are right at the heart of that process.
Flick’s chosen youngsters stay in the mix
Not every young face is on the way out. Some have earned a longer look.
Among the reserve-team players still working directly under Flick are Aron Yaakobishvili – himself close to a move to Almeria – Alvaro Cortes, Xavi Espart, Jordi Pesquer, Ebrima Tunkara, Orian Goren, Brian Farinas and forward Hamza Abdelkarim.
They continue to train with the senior squad as Barcelona move through the final stages of their pre-season planning, a phase that is already reshaping the dressing room.
