Fabio Vieira Joins Hamburg After Arsenal Departure
Fabio Vieira has ended his Arsenal stay, joining Hamburg on a permanent deal worth 10m euros (£8.6m) as the Bundesliga club turn last season’s loan into a full-time move.
The 26-year-old midfielder spent the past two campaigns away from north London, first returning to Porto for the 2024-25 season and then heading to Hamburg, where he impressed enough to earn a long-term place. His departure closes a two-year chapter at Arsenal after arriving from Porto in 2022 and making 49 appearances for the club.
Arsenal had made Vieira available for sale as part of a planned reshaping of Mikel Arteta’s squad, with forwards Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli also expected to leave on permanent transfers as the club look to refresh key areas.
There is movement at the other end of the age spectrum too. Highly rated academy product Ethan Nwaneri is close to sealing a loan switch to Borussia Dortmund, a club with a strong recent record of developing young talent.
One established name gone, more big decisions looming, and a teenager on the brink of a major step in his career – Arsenal’s summer rebuild is only just getting started.
