Estevao's Brazil Recall Highlights Talent Amid Chelsea Frustration

The 19-year-old forward has barely had a kick in the Premier League this season – 27 minutes off the bench, no starts, no real rhythm. For a teenager billed as one of Brazil’s next great hopes, that is a thin platform to perform on.

Yet his country still came calling.

Despite his limited role at Chelsea, Estevao is back in the Brazil squad for the upcoming international break, a reminder of how highly he is rated outside the walls of Cobham, even if his impact in England is still on hold.

Asked about working under Blues head coach Xabi Alonso and the slow start to his club campaign, Estevao refused to bite or blame.

“Every coach has their own way of playing,” he said, side-stepping any hint of frustration. “And of course, we work hard every day and give our best every single day. So that's what I do.”

The message is clear: no complaints, just graft.

Chelsea’s squad is stacked with attacking talent, and Estevao knows it. Breaking into a frontline loaded with big fees and big reputations is no simple task. He accepts the traffic in front of him and narrows his gaze to the only thing he says he can influence.

“We have players of extreme quality at Chelsea, so what I do is focus on what I can, on what I can control,” he explained. “I try to give my best in training, and when I get the opportunity, I always give my best, and that goes day after day.”

The minutes have been scarce, but he believes he has made them count.

“So, in all the opportunities that I get, and that I've had, I think I've seized a lot of those, taken on a lot of those responsibilities,” he said, backing his own contribution even in short bursts.

For now, patience is his chosen weapon. Faith, too.

“So I try to control what I can, leave tomorrow in God's hands, and trust in my work.”

Brazil have already shown they trust it. The question now is how long Chelsea can keep a talent like this on the fringes.
