Crystal Palace Enforces Strict Ticket Rules for Arsenal Showdown
Crystal Palace have moved to lock down Selhurst Park for what could be one of the most charged final days the Premier League has seen in years, introducing strict new ticketing rules ahead of their season finale against Arsenal.
The club’s stance hardens after ugly scenes at the weekend, when Arsenal’s 1-0 win at West Ham – sealed by Leandro Trossard – spilled over from the pitch into the stands.
Trouble in the stands sparks clampdown
Trossard’s strike kept Arsenal’s title dream alive and cranked up the pressure on Manchester City, but the drama did not stop with the VAR controversy that saw a West Ham equaliser ruled out.
In the stands, videos circulated online showing Arsenal supporters who had bought seats in the home end at the London Stadium clashing with West Ham fans. Confrontations broke out, stewards were dragged into it, and the footage did not go unnoticed elsewhere in the league.
Palace have clearly taken note. With Arsenal potentially arriving at Selhurst Park needing a result to clinch their first title in 22 years, the club is determined not to see its home sections flooded by away fans.
Palace slam the door on ticket sharing
The message from Palace is blunt: home Match Tickets are for Crystal Palace supporters only.
To enforce that, the club has rolled out a series of measures for the Arsenal game:
- Ticket sharing will be switched off for the fixture. No passing on seats, no casual handovers.
- Any supporter found to have shared their ticket faces a ban from buying a Season Ticket or Membership next season.
- Security at Selhurst Park will be stepped up, with all supporters searched on entry.
- Tickets will be sold only to fans who registered their CPFC accounts before 1 December 2025.
- Supporters can still buy multiple tickets in a single transaction, but only if every recipient has the required membership for that sales phase.
- Guest tickets must be allocated to supporters with a valid client reference number.
It is a hard line, but Palace know what is coming: a title race boiling over, Arsenal fans desperate to be inside the ground, and the eyes of the league fixed on south London.
City, Arsenal and the razor-thin margin
All of this unfolds against a tight, unforgiving title picture.
Arsenal sit top on 79 points, five clear of Manchester City on 74. That cushion might not last. City host Palace at the Etihad Stadium tonight, knowing that a win cuts the gap to two points with two games left for both sides.
If City beat Palace and then take care of Bournemouth in their next outing, the title race will be dragged all the way to the final day. Selhurst Park would then stage a game loaded with tension: Arsenal possibly needing a result, Palace defending their turf, every tackle and every corner carrying weight.
But the entire narrative can flip in 90 minutes.
Should City draw or lose to Palace this evening, Arsenal’s grip on the trophy tightens dramatically. In that scenario, Mikel Arteta’s side would only need to beat Burnley on 18 May to secure the title before they even step foot in south London.
Selhurst Park would then host not a decider, but a coronation party – or a defiant home crowd intent on spoiling it.
Selhurst Park prepares for a defining afternoon
Crystal Palace face City tonight at the Etihad, then Arsenal at Selhurst Park on Sunday, 24 May at 4pm. Two games, one club, and a huge say in where the Premier League trophy ends up.
The football will take care of itself. The tickets, Palace have decided, will not.
