Cristian Romero Joins Atlético Madrid as Defensive Enforcer

The Argentina international arrives from Tottenham Hotspur on a long-term agreement that ties him to Atlético until 30 June 2031. The Madrid club have paid a fee reported to reach €40 million for the 28-year-old centre-back, a statement signing for a back line built on aggression and authority.

Romero leaves Spurs after five seasons that transformed his reputation. Initially signed on loan for the 2021-22 campaign, he convinced quickly, earned a permanent deal, and became a cornerstone of the London side.
