William Gallas Predicts Cole Palmer Will Join Manchester United and Realize His Dream

Former Chelsea defender William Gallas believes that Cole Palmer will eventually leave Chelsea to join Manchester United, fulfilling his ambition to play for the Red Devils. Wayne Bridge, another ex-Chelsea defender, has also shared his thoughts on the potential move.

On January 27, 2026, TEAMtalk’s transfer expert Fraser Fletcher reported that Manchester United intended to sign Palmer from Chelsea in the summer of 2026. Sources indicated that Palmer was open to switching Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford. The club's director of football, Jason Wilcox, reportedly showed interest in bringing Palmer to United.

Nevertheless, Chelsea are reluctant to sell Palmer, demanding at least £150 million for the 24-year-old England international attacking midfielder. Palmer himself downplayed rumours about a summer transfer to Manchester United.

The situation cooled off as United seem unlikely to make a bid this summer. Instead, they've signed Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa during the current transfer window. Although United’s owners, INEOS, want a third midfielder, they are looking for someone different from Palmer.

“I don’t think Cole Palmer will go right now. I don’t think it’s time to go right now. He will definitely go to Manchester United in the future if he’s a big fan, if he’s got a dream to play for Man United, he will definitely go there, but right now I don’t think so. I think he needs to have one more big season as he did two years ago, before he got his injury problem, then he might move.”

Wayne Bridge Advises Palmer Against Early Move

Earlier in March 2026, Wayne Bridge warned Palmer about leaving Chelsea for Manchester United.

“It probably makes sense for Cole Palmer because he’s a Man United fan. But personally, I don’t know him, so I wouldn’t know what he’s thinking. It might make sense for Manchester United – every club would love to take Cole Palmer – but it doesn’t make sense for Chelsea. As an ex-Chelsea player, I’d be gutted if he went there.
