The Premier League side’s interest hasn’t cooled with the passing of deadline day; if anything, their failed summer push has only set up a fresh battle for January.

For the moment, Koné stays at Roma, with Gasperini holding him close and Trigoria closed to offers. The question is simple: when Chelsea come knocking again in January, will Roma’s door stay shut?
