Chelsea’s record sale of Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City has already sparked the first wave of aftershocks across the Premier League market.
According to reports, the Stamford Bridge club were offered former Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma as a potential replacement for the Argentina international, who joined City for £125m. Whether Chelsea act on that proposal is another matter. What’s clear is that Enzo’s move has intensified a scramble for central talent among England’s elite.
Wharton turns heads – but Palace stand firm
Adam Wharton’s stock has risen sharply. Manchester City and Chelsea are both understood to have shown interest in the 22-year-old England midfielder before the transfer deadline, only to be rebuffed by Crystal Palace.
