Burton Albion Sign Winger Caylan Vickers from Brighton

Burton Albion have dipped into the Premier League talent pool, bringing in winger Caylan Vickers from Brighton on a permanent deal.

The 21-year-old has signed a two-year contract at the Pirelli Stadium, with the Brewers holding an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months. The fee is undisclosed, but the intent is clear: Burton want more pace, more threat, more end product.

Vickers arrives with League One miles already on the clock. Last season he took in loan spells at Barnsley and Wigan Athletic, learning the division’s tempo and physical edge while trying to force his way into Brighton’s long-term plans.

He never managed a first-team appearance for the Seagulls, having joined them after coming through the ranks at Reading, but Burton believe they are getting a player ready to make an impact now rather than later.

"He's an attacking player who will excite our supporters whilst adding goals and assists to the team," said head coach Gary Bowyer. "Having played at this level already, he arrives ready to contribute and we look forward to seeing how he continues to develop with us."

The timing is no coincidence. Burton are at home to AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday evening, and the Pirelli crowd may not have to wait long for their first glimpse of the new wide man in Brewers colours.
