Bayern Munich Set to Make Michael Olise Their Highest-Paid Player

Bayern Munich are moving to lock Michael Olise into the heart of their future – and they are prepared to show it on the payslip.

The German champions want to extend the French winger’s contract and turn him into the highest-paid player at the club, according to French outlet L’Équipe. That is not a small gesture at a club where Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala currently sit at the top of the wage ladder.

Olise is already tied to Bayern until 2029 after his move from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024. On paper, there is no rush. On the pitch, he has removed any doubt. At 24, he has quickly become one of Bayern’s standout performers, forcing the hierarchy to accelerate plans and build a project with him at the centre.

Bayern view him as a cornerstone, not a luxury. They are ready to dig deep to keep him in Munich, even though the France international has long been linked with dreams of wearing Real Madrid’s white. For now, those dreams are parked. Olise is set to remain in Germany for at least another season.

A key part of that decision lies on the touchline. L’Équipe reports that Olise has found the ideal environment to grow under Vincent Kompany. The relationship between player and coach is described as strong, with Kompany pushing his game to a new level and giving him the freedom and responsibility he craved.

There is one twist in the talks. Any new agreement is expected to include a release clause, something his current deal does not have. Bayern would be rewarding him with a huge salary, but also acknowledging the modern reality: elite talents want an escape hatch, even when they commit long term.

To understand the scale of Bayern’s offer, you have to look at the current wage structure. As of April 2026, Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala led the way on around 2.1 million euros per month. Behind them, Manuel Neuer earned 1.75 million, while Joshua Kimmich and Dayot Upamecano each took home about 1.66 million.
