Bayern Munich Defeats Leipzig 3-1 as Saibari Impresses

Bayern Munich stepped up their pre-season preparations with a 3-1 win over RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena on Saturday, a performance that mixed familiar control with a glimpse of something new.

Luis Diaz, Bayern’s Colombian summer arrival, needed just 14 minutes to announce himself. Drifting into space and timing his run perfectly, he struck the opener that settled any early rust. Bayern carried that narrow 1-0 lead into half-time, the hosts largely in charge but still leaving the door ajar.

Second Half

Leipzig walked straight through it after the restart. On 52 minutes, Bryan Gruda dragged them level, punishing Bayern’s lapse and briefly tilting the rhythm of the game. The equaliser jolted the home side, and the response came quickly.

Five minutes later, Nathaniel Brown restored Bayern’s advantage. Aleksandar Pavlovic sliced Leipzig open with a sharp pass, and Brown pounced, finishing clinically to make it 2-1 and wrestle back control.

The night then turned into a small showcase for Bayern’s latest recruit.

On 71 minutes, Moroccan international Ismael Saibari came on for Tom Bischof, making his first appearance since arriving from Eindhoven. He did not wait long to leave a mark. Barely 10 minutes after stepping onto the pitch, Saibari slipped a smart ball through for fellow substitute Jamal Musiala, who added Bayern’s third and underlined the depth of attacking options at the club’s disposal.

Musiala’s contribution was brief but decisive. His evening ended in worrying fashion in the 86th minute when he fainted and had to leave the field, with young Senegalese player Bara Ndiaye taking his place for the closing moments.

Bayern now roll into competitive action with momentum, heading into the domestic Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, before their Bundesliga campaign begins against Stuttgart on 28 August.
