Barnsley Signs Connor O'Riordan on Loan

Barnsley have moved to strengthen their defence with the season-long loan signing of Blackburn Rovers centre-back Connor O'Riordan, securing an option to make the deal permanent next summer.

The 22-year-old, capped by the Republic of Ireland up to Under-21 level, already knows League One well. He spent the first half of last season on loan at Doncaster Rovers, gaining valuable experience in the division before heading back to Ewood Park in January.

On his return to Blackburn, O'Riordan forced his way into the first-team picture, making six appearances in all competitions for the Championship side.

Now he heads to Oakwell looking for regular minutes and a platform to kick on. He could make his Tykes debut as soon as Saturday, when Barnsley travel to Leyton Orient.
