Atlético-MG vs RB Bragantino: Sudamericana Decider Lineups
The night at Arena MRV comes with a simple equation and a heavy dose of tension: Atlético-MG defends a 1-0 lead; Red Bull Bragantino has to tear it up and start again.
After winning in Bragança and beating Grêmio 3-0 in the Brasileirão, Galo arrives with confidence high and the stands ready to roar. A draw is enough to book a place in the CONMEBOL Sudamericana quarterfinals. The ball rolls at 7 p.m. (Brasília time).
Galo at full strength, eye on the kill
Felipão’s side goes as strong as it can. The team that impressed at the weekend regains three important names: Natanael, Maycon, and Bernard, all of whom sat out the clash with Grêmio and return fresh for the continental duel.
There are absences, though. Thiago Borbas, whose rights belong to Bragantino, is unavailable, as are the injured Igor Gomes, Scarpa, Léo Duarte, Lyanco, and Índio. Up front, the responsibility falls on Reinier, again trusted to lead the line.
Atlético-MG’s starting XI: Everson; Natanael, Ruan, Vitor Hugo and Lodi; Alan Franco, Maycon, Victor Hugo and Bernard; Cuello and Reinier.
Backed by the first-leg advantage and a packed new home, Galo knows one goal could force Bragantino to climb a mountain.
Bragantino forced to chase
On the other side, there is no safety net. Bragantino needs to win in Belo Horizonte to stay alive in the Sudamericana. Any victory by a single goal takes the tie to extra time if they match Atlético’s tally; a wider win sends them straight through.
To mount that comeback, the club regains two attacking pieces: Mosquera and Rodriguinho. Only Rodriguinho, though, goes straight into the starting team, a sign that Pedro Caixinha wants control and creativity from the first whistle.
RB Bragantino’s starting XI: Cleiton; Agustin Sant'Anna; Pedro Henrique, Gustavo Marques and Juninho Capixaba; Ramires, Rodriguinho and Lucas Barbosa; Herrera, Vinicinho and Isidro Pitta.
Bragantino knows the script: silence the Arena early, score first, and drag the tie into chaos. Atlético, with the crowd and the scoreboard on its side, wants exactly the opposite — a night of control that ends with a quarterfinal ticket in its hands.
