Further down the pyramid, the ambition at Wrexham shows no sign of slowing. The Welsh club are pushing to sign Pavel Sulc from Lyon, with the French side valuing him at around £10m. That is serious money and a serious statement.
Their French scouting network has been working overtime. Wrexham also want Angers left-back Jacques Ekomié, though they are not alone there. West Ham are in the frame as well, already preparing for the possibility that Brentford move for El Hadji Malick Diouf and trigger another chain reaction in the market.
