Arsenal Pursues Ezri Konsa Amid Villa's £60m Standoff

Arsenal are ramping up their push to land Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, with growing confidence inside the club that a deal can still be struck for the England international.

Konsa has emerged as Arsenal’s leading defensive target, the player they want to anchor the back line as they look to build on their status as Premier League champions. The problem is clear: Villa’s valuation. The Midlands club are holding firm at around £60m, and so far Arsenal have not put that figure on the table.

Talks between the clubs were reopened last week, as revealed by BBC Sport, but negotiations again stalled short of an agreement. Arsenal’s interest never cooled, yet the gap between offer and demand has remained stubborn.

For a moment, it looked as though the London club were ready to look elsewhere. The Gunners appeared to pivot towards Bayer Leverkusen’s Jarrell Quansah, exploring an alternative route to strengthen their defence.

Now, though, attention is swinging back to Konsa. Arsenal are moving with more urgency, testing Villa’s resolve and the limits of their own budget. The valuation hasn’t changed. The target hasn’t either.

The question is whether Arsenal blink first – or whether Villa decide that this is the summer to cash in on one of their most reliable defenders.
