Arsenal Initiate Talks with Galatasaray Over Victor Osimhen Transfer Amid Player Exchange Rumors

Arsenal have started discussions with Galatasaray regarding a surprising transfer move for Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian forward, who joined the Turkish club last summer for €75 million (£64.8m), is now being eyed by the Premier League side after other targets proved difficult to secure.

Shift in Arsenal's Transfer Strategy

The 27-year-old striker had been linked with a move to England for some time. Arsenal had previously focused on signing Julian Alvarez, but Atletico Madrid's refusal to sell forced them to explore alternative options. According to The Telegraph, Osimhen’s name came up during broader talks between the two clubs involving other players.

Multiple Player Deals Under Discussion

  • Gabriel Martinelli: Galatasaray made a €45 million (£38.4m) offer for the Brazilian winger, though he reportedly is hesitant to join the Turkish league.
  • Ethan Nwaneri: Arsenal appear ready to part ways with the 19-year-old, offering him for a €40 million (£34.1m) fee. Galatasaray is advancing negotiations to sign the young talent, who was formerly loaned to Marseille.

John Obi Mikel Supports the Move

"I think we want to see him in the Champions League so maybe Arsenal might be the destination. Maybe there is a door open there for Victor," said Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel. He also mentioned his private conversations with Osimhen and highlighted the striker's ambition to play at the highest European level and compete for the Champions League title.

Arsenal’s Change of Heart

In 2024, Arsenal declined an opportunity to sign Osimhen due to Napoli's high valuation. Now, their pursuit signals a new approach under manager Mikel Arteta, who wants a reliable goal scorer leading the attack. Although Osimhen has thrived at Galatasaray, the pull of the Premier League and its competitive stature remains a strong lure for the forward.
