Arsenal Boosted in Barcola Pursuit as United Targets Hall and Chelsea Signs Chavarria
The summer window is starting to crackle. Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham are all deep in negotiations as the deadline creeps closer, with several major storylines beginning to collide.
Arsenal sense opening in Barcola race
Arsenal have been given fresh encouragement in their pursuit of Bradley Barcola, with Liverpool increasingly frustrated by talks over the forward and now prepared to step back from the chase. That could leave the Gunners in a strong position as they weigh up attacking reinforcements.
Mikel Arteta’s side are also being linked with Iliman Ndiaye and Julian Alvarez as they explore ways to add more cutting edge to their frontline. At the back, Jules Kounde has emerged as a key defensive target, alongside Ezri Konsa, as Arsenal look to bolster their options across the back line.

United’s left-back hunt intensifies as Hall pushes for move
Manchester United’s search for a new left-back is beginning to define their window. Lewis Hall has made clear he wants a move to Old Trafford, despite Newcastle insisting the defender is not for sale.
United have already contacted Newcastle to explore a deal, only to be told the England international is off the market. Hall, though, is understood to remain determined to leave St James’ Park. Reports claim he still feels the tactical calls made under former manager Eddie Howe played a part in him missing out on England’s 2026 World Cup squad, and that frustration has not faded even after Matthias Jaissle’s arrival.
United’s shortlist does not stop there. David Raum, Antonee Robinson and Jorge Salinas have all been linked, as has Lewis-Skelly, with the club intent on finding a long-term solution on the left side of defence.
Chelsea land Chavarria and brace for Enzo attention
Chelsea have announced Pep Chavarria as their ninth signing of the summer, adding more energy to their midfield and full-back options.
“I’m so excited to get started,” Chavarria said after completing his move. “This is a dream for me as Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world. It is a big opportunity but I am prepared and will work hard to help the team achieve success.”
The Spaniard described himself as a high-intensity, box-to-box presence who thrives on attacking and defending with equal enthusiasm, calling the Premier League “the best league in the world right now”.
Chelsea, though, are not just buying. They believe Manchester City hold an interest in Enzo Fernandez, a subplot that could yet reshape the final weeks of their window if any formal approach arrives.
Tottenham ready to cash in as Porro attracts Barcelona
Tottenham’s window is balancing ambition with hard choices. Cody Gakpo and Savinho remain high on their attacking wishlist, while Omar Marmoush, Florin Balogun and Georges Mikautadze have also been linked as Spurs look to sharpen their forward line.
At the same time, Cristian Romero is set for a move to Atletico Madrid, a sale that would rip out a key part of their defence but free up significant funds.
Barcelona, meanwhile, have made an initial move for Pedro Porro as they prepare for the possibility of losing Jules Kounde. The Catalan club have contacted Porro’s representatives with Arsenal circling Kounde, and are already weighing up alternatives.
Porro only signed a long-term deal with Spurs in June, tying him to the club until 2031, and Roberto De Zerbi views the Spain international as central to his plans. Any attempt from Barcelona to prise him away is expected to be difficult and expensive, but their interest is likely to grow quickly if Arsenal push ahead for Kounde.
Why Spurs are ready to cut Spence loose
On the opposite flank, Djed Spence is edging towards the exit. Inter Milan are closing in on a deal worth around £25.6million for the England full-back, with the player open to a fresh start.
Spence’s reputation has risen sharply after an impressive World Cup campaign, and he wants guarantees over his playing time at this stage of his career. De Zerbi cannot offer him the minutes he craves and has made it clear he will not block a move for the 26-year-old if the right offer arrives.
Tottenham have also sent young striker Yang Min-Hyeok back out on loan. After spells with Portsmouth and Coventry last season, the forward will spend the upcoming campaign with Belgian side Westerlo as he continues his development away from north London.
Liverpool rethink as Ndiaye rejects Saudi move
Liverpool’s interest in Barcola has cooled, with the club growing tired of drawn-out talks. That shift could reshape the winger’s market and strengthen Arsenal’s hand.
Attention is also turning back to the Premier League for another in-demand forward. Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye has rejected an offer from Al Hilal, keeping the door open for English suitors.
The Senegal international, 26, has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park but is understood to prefer staying in the Premier League. Confident he can attract serious interest in upcoming windows, Ndiaye is in no rush to force through a transfer now. Arsenal and Manchester United have both been credited with interest in the past, and his stance will not go unnoticed as clubs plot their next move.
Palace bring Guessand back
Away from the headline deals, Crystal Palace have quietly strengthened. The club have re-signed Evann Guessand on a season-long loan from Aston Villa, with an option to buy included.
