Anthony Martial's Surprise Move to Málaga CF

Anthony Martial is closing in on a surprise move to Málaga CF, with the Spanish club, currently 18th in La Liga, reportedly on the verge of securing the free agent’s signature, according to Foot Mercato.

The 30-year-old forward has been searching for a new chapter since the termination of his contract with CF Monterrey, and Spain now looks set to become the stage for his attempted career revival. The former Manchester United striker has already rejected two approaches from Ligue 1 clubs, underlining his determination to find what he views as the right project rather than the most familiar one.

His name has not only circulated in Europe. Al-Ittihad Tripoli, fresh from recruiting Moroccan winger Sofiane Boufal (32), also pushed hard to lure Martial. The Libyan side’s ambition was backed by serious money: an offer worth a net salary of 10 million euros over two years, plus a 5 million euro signing bonus.

It was the kind of proposal that turns heads. Martial turned it down.

He is reported to have refused the deal in order to commit to what he considers a genuine sporting project, with Málaga now poised to offer him that platform. For a player once tipped as one of Europe’s brightest attacking talents, the choice is clear: less about the size of the contract, more about the chance to rebuild a career in a league and a setting that still carry real competitive weight.
