Al-Ittihad Pursues Hakim Ziyech Amid Wydad Crisis
Al-Ittihad have stepped into the storm surrounding Hakim Ziyech, sensing an opportunity as the Moroccan’s relationship with Wydad teeters on the brink.
According to “Africa Foot”, the Libyan club have put a substantial financial offer on the table in a bid to lure the playmaker away. The proposal is described as hefty, with Al-Ittihad ready to act fast and structure a deal on terms they believe Ziyech will find hard to refuse.
Nothing is done yet. Talks over his contract with Wydad are still dragging on, with no breakthrough in sight.
What began as a disagreement has turned into a full-blown crisis. Ziyech’s ties with Wydad have frayed badly in recent weeks amid financial, sporting and disciplinary disputes. Several meetings between the player and the club hierarchy have produced little progress and plenty of tension.
The situation exploded when Ziyech went public, taking to social media to accuse Wydad president Ibrahim El Assri of lying. That post pushed the dispute into the open and underlined how far relations have deteriorated.
Wydad are keen to close the chapter and move on. Ziyech is not backing down. He is holding firm over what he believes he is owed and, according to the same source, is prepared to escalate the matter to FIFA if no agreement is reached.
With the stand-off hardening and Al-Ittihad circling with cash in hand, the next move could define not just Ziyech’s immediate future, but the balance of power between player and club in this increasingly bitter saga.
