Adam Jackson Leaves Lincoln City After Six Years

Adam Jackson’s time as a Lincoln City player is over – but he has not walked away from the club just yet.

The defender has agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent after being told earlier in the summer he would not be named in the Imps’ 25-man squad for this Championship season. A move failed to materialise before the transfer window closed, leaving the 32-year-old in limbo.

Now there is clarity. Jackson is free to find a new club, yet Lincoln have opened the door for him to keep training with the first-team group while he searches for his next step.

It is an unusual arrangement, and it underlines the bond built over six years of service. Jackson arrived in 2018 and went on to become a fixture in the side, making 179 appearances across all competitions and playing through several eras of the club’s recent rise.

This season, though, his only outing came in the Carabao Cup, a late-August win away at Blackpool that now stands as his final competitive game for the club.

Sporting director Jez George framed the decision as a mark of respect for a long-serving professional.

He said the club would “do anything to help Jacko with what comes next in his career”, adding that the arrangement “shows the respect both parties have for each other”.

Jackson now trains on familiar pitches, but with a different horizon in front of him. Lincoln move on without a defender who has been part of their fabric; Jackson moves on with their backing as he looks for the next badge on his shirt.
