Teenage USMNT Talent Zavier Gozo Joins Crystal Palace in Premier League Move
Another young American is heading to the Premier League. Zavier Gozo, a standout winger from the United States, has officially signed a five-year contract with Crystal Palace, coming from MLS side Real Salt Lake. The transfer fee reportedly exceeds $15 million.
"I'm really excited to play in the Premier League with Crystal Palace. Every footballer dreams of this," Gozo expressed in a statement from the club. "The project and the people here are inspiring. I've seen what they’ve achieved, and that’s something I want to be part of."
Rapid Rise for the 19-Year-Old Star
Hailing from West Valley City, Utah, Gozo's journey has been swift. He joined Real Salt Lake’s youth setup six years ago before making his MLS debut at just 16 in 2023. His performances quickly caught attention, especially after tallying six goals and five assists in 16 starts during the first half of the MLS season, earning him his first MLS All-Star selection.
"Life moves so fast. You play well for a couple of games, and you’re an All-Star. It came faster than I thought and faster than a lot of people thought. It’s been a great journey," Gozo told Sports Illustrated at the All-Star Game.
Joining Fellow American Chris Richards at Palace
Gozo will join Chris Richards, another American who plays a key defensive role for the USMNT and was a starter during the 2026 World Cup. Seven years older than Gozo, Richards has welcomed the youngster warmly.
"Yo bro, it’s Chris," Richards said in a video message shared by the club. "Heard through the grapevine you might be joining me in South London all the way from the 801. Can’t wait to get going. Congrats bro, and see you soon."
American Presence Grows in the Premier League and Championship
The Premier League is seeing an influx of American players this season. Besides Gozo and Richards at Palace, Antonee Robinson plays for Fulham, Brenden Aaronson is at Leeds United, Tyler Adams anchors midfield for Bournemouth, and striker Haji Wright represents newly-promoted Coventry City.
In the EFL Championship, several Americans are also competing: Max Arfsten, Sebastian Berhalter, and Aidan Morris all feature for Middlesbrough. Striker Patrick Agyemang plays for Derby County but is currently sidelined with an Achilles injury, expected to return this winter.
Upcoming Debut Opportunity
Crystal Palace opens their 2026–27 season on Saturday against Everton, and Gozo could make his Premier League debut then, stepping into one of the toughest leagues in the world.
