Yan Diomande Rejects Premier League Clubs for PSG Move
The Premier League’s heavyweights have come calling, one after another. The answer has not changed.
Yan Diomande’s representatives have fielded fresh approaches from Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City over the past week, yet each club has been met with the same blunt response: the winger is committed to joining Paris Saint-Germain.
The chase for one of Europe’s most coveted young attackers is technically still alive, but those close to the talks are clear – Diomande’s preference remains Paris, despite the late surge from England.
Al-Khelaifi steps in to finish the job
Inside PSG, this is no routine deal. Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has personally taken control of negotiations with Red Bull as the European champions push to finalise Diomande’s move from Leipzig.
His long-standing relationship with Red Bull’s hierarchy has smoothed the path. Conversations have accelerated, and sources close to the discussions believe an agreement is edging into view. Leipzig, for their part, have already accepted internally that Diomande is closing in on a switch to the Parc des Princes.
Earlier this month, the Bundesliga club explored a compromise: sell Diomande now, keep him on loan for another year. It would have softened the sporting blow and protected their season.
Luis Enrique was having none of it.
The PSG head coach has made it clear he wants the Ivory Coast starlet in his squad immediately. No bridging season, no delayed arrival. He wants Diomande integrated this summer, part of his plans from day one.
PSG are backing that stance with cash. They are prepared to pay around €110million (£93.5m, $126m) to get the deal done, a fee that underlines just how far they are willing to go to secure a player they see as central to their next attacking cycle.
Liverpool push, Arsenal react, City wait
That level of commitment has not scared off the Premier League, only sharpened the urgency.
Liverpool, long-term admirers, remain the most persistent of Diomande’s English suitors. The club have kept a steady line of communication open with the player’s camp, hoping for any sign of a twist – an obstacle in PSG’s path, a late change of heart, any crack in the Paris plan. The message coming back so far has been consistent, but Liverpool want to be in position to move instantly if the situation shifts.
Arsenal’s renewed interest carries a different tone. Their failure to land Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers caught them off guard and forced a rapid recalibration of their attacking options. Diomande had been monitored throughout the summer, but missing out on their primary target pushed the Gunners back to the Leipzig winger with fresh intent. Enquiries have gone in again, testing whether there is any room to manoeuvre.
Manchester City have also re-entered the frame. With Savinho expected to complete his move to Tottenham Hotspur, City remain in the market for another wide attacker and have made it clear they would be ready to move quickly if Diomande’s stance on PSG softened.
It has not. All three Premier League clubs have been told the same thing: his focus is fixed on Paris.
No auction, no games
One key element in the background is Red Bull’s approach. Sources insist the group are not using the Premier League’s continued interest to drive up the price. Negotiations with PSG are said to be progressing on their own track, independent of the late flurry from England.
That will come as a small relief to PSG, who have already stretched towards the upper limit of what they are willing to pay. It also underlines how advanced the Paris talks have become.
There is, however, one complication still being handled.
Both PSG and Leipzig are aware of issues arising from Diomande’s recent change of representation. Discussions are ongoing over aspects of his image rights following the switch in agents, a delicate area in any major modern transfer. Those close to the deal remain confident these details will not derail the move, but they do need to be resolved before signatures go on paper.

The deal is moving into its final stages. PSG are determined to land one of the biggest transfers of the summer, and all current expectations point in the same direction: Yan Diomande playing under Luis Enrique next season, despite the late, determined efforts of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City to change his mind.
The Premier League giants have knocked loudly. Unless something dramatic breaks in the coming days, they will be left listening to the door slam shut on one of the market’s most prized talents.
