Why Mikel Arteta Won't Find a Better Setup than Arsenal at Barcelona or Manchester City

Former Arsenal midfielder Anders Limpar believes Mikel Arteta won’t be tempted away from the Gunners by offers from Barcelona or Manchester City. According to Limpar, Arsenal has cemented its place among Europe's elite clubs, offering Arteta one of the most promising managerial roles on the continent. The club’s consistent support in the transfer market and ambition across four competitions makes it an enviable project.

Arsenal's Rising Status

Speaking with SveaCasino, Limpar highlighted Arsenal’s new stature. He pointed out the club’s ability to attract world-class players and argued that this success removes any need for Arteta to seek greener pastures.

"Why would Mikel Arteta ever leave Arsenal when they are able to sign the best players in the world for him? They are the best or second-best team in Europe," Limpar said. "Everybody wants to come and play for Arsenal now. We are a massive club nowadays."

He added that competing for the Premier League title and advancing deep in multiple tournaments only increases the club’s appeal to top players. "To win the Premier League and go so deep into all four competitions, everyone wants to play for a club that could win the quadruple," Limpar said. "Look at the players he already has! They are all very good players. If you’re only a good player, you’re not going to fit in at Arsenal. Go and play for Brighton or Fulham or whoever."

Limpar also insisted Arteta won’t find a better setup at Barcelona or Manchester City than at Arsenal, especially as the Gunners continue signing even stronger talent.

The Challenge of Managing a Star-Studded Squad

Despite praising Arsenal’s progress, Limpar warned that managing a team full of world-class players will test Arteta’s leadership skills like never before.

"To have a world-class team, you need ten world-class outfield players, but you also need more than ten world-class players who are on the bench or don’t even play," Limpar explained. "This is the hardest job for a manager. It was hard for Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp. It will be hard for Mikel Arteta too to keep his squad happy. That’s the hardest thing. Arteta’s real job only starts now. He has to be a master psychologist if he is to keep everyone engaged under his umbrella."

He continued, emphasizing the challenges during injuries, suspensions, or dips in form. "If you look at the bench at those moments and the players are still not happy, it doesn’t matter who you are. The players need to channel it. Come on thinking ‘I am going to run for that mother f***er and show him’ - that’s where the psychology of football comes in when you’re a danger. He’s in a dangerous position if he gets it wrong."

Arsenal's Pre-Season Preparations

Arsenal have started their pre-season strongly with a 4-1 win over Girona. The squad is focusing on fitness and tactical integration ahead of a demanding campaign.
