Watford Sign Iker Bravo from Udinese to Boost Attack
Watford have moved to sharpen their attacking edge with the signing of Spain Under-21 forward Iker Bravo from Udinese on a permanent deal.
The 21-year-old arrives at Vicarage Road on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee, a quietly decisive piece of business for a club intent on adding more invention and mobility to their front line.
From La Masia to Vicarage Road
Bravo is not a typical Championship punt. He grew up in the rarefied air of Barcelona’s La Masia, the academy that shaped generations of technically gifted forwards. From there he jumped to Bayer Leverkusen in 2021, a move that underlined how highly he was regarded across Europe.
His development continued with a spell on loan at Real Madrid B, another demanding environment where young attackers either adapt quickly or fade from the picture. Bravo stayed in the frame, doing enough to earn a move to Serie A with Udinese in 2024.
Italy gave him his first sustained run in senior football. He made 37 appearances for Udinese last season, scoring three times. The numbers are modest, but the minutes matter; he has already lived through the tactical grind and physical intensity of one of Europe’s toughest leagues.
A rising name in Spain’s next generation
Where Bravo has really caught the eye is on the international stage. He was named player of the tournament as Spain won the 2024 Uefa Under-19 Championship, a standout accolade in a country that never lacks attacking talent.
That honour has followed him into the Spain Under-21 set-up, where his mix of movement, touch and awareness has marked him out as one of the more intriguing forwards of his age group.
Watford group technical director Gian Luca Nani made no attempt to hide the club’s belief in the signing.
“Iker is a promising young talent,” Nani said. “His development at Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and with the Spanish national teams speaks for itself. We are confident he will be a valuable addition to the squad and bring new attacking options to the team.”
Watford’s bet on upside
For Watford, this is a calculated swing at upside rather than a short-term, stop-gap signing. Bravo arrives with elite schooling, experience in Germany, Spain and Italy, and a recent major youth tournament award to his name.
Now comes the hard part. Can a forward shaped by La Masia and tested in Serie A turn that pedigree into end product on a relentless Championship schedule? Watford are backing the answer to be yes.
