Tottenham Targets Savinho and Marmoush in Bold Double Deal
Tottenham are attempting one of the boldest moves of the window, working on a double deal with Manchester City for Savinho and Marmoush, according to The Athletic.
Nothing is signed. Not yet. But talks between the two Premier League clubs are described as progressing well, and Spurs sense an opening that simply was not there a year ago.
They tried for Savinho last summer and were flatly rebuffed. City wanted to keep the Brazilian. This time the mood has shifted. Savinho was left out of the squad entirely for Sunday’s 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal, a decision that only fuels the feeling that his Etihad future lies elsewhere.
Marmoush, too, has looked like a player on the move for some time. Stuck behind Erling Haaland, he has operated as cover rather than competition and has been widely expected to leave during this window.
A blockbuster summer in north London
This is already a historic window for Spurs. The club have committed around £229.5 million on Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke alone, reshaping the spine of Roberto De Zerbi’s side in one sweep.
They have not stopped there. Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka have arrived on free transfers, adding experience and depth without further straining the budget.
Despite the headline figures, Tottenham are understood to be operating within financial rules. The numbers work because the ownership strategy has changed. Majority owners ENIC are now actively injecting money into the club, and the spending has been offset by significant outgoing deals, most notably Luka Vuskovic’s move to Brighton for a guaranteed £46m.
That shift has turned Spurs from cautious operators into one of the window’s most aggressive players.
De Zerbi’s “bomba” and the need up front
Earlier this month, De Zerbi teased supporters with talk of a surprise “bomba” signing. The hint was clear: something big was coming in attack.
He needs it. Tottenham’s forward line, for all its potential, carries obvious risk. Richarlison is down to the final year of his contract. Dominic Solanke has been hampered by injuries. The squad lacks a fully reliable, fit, long-term focal point.
This is where Savinho and Marmoush come in.
Marmoush arrives with numbers that demand attention. In his final half-season at Eintracht Frankfurt before joining City, he scored 15 goals in 17 games. That is the kind of streak that turns a promising forward into a headline name, and Spurs will believe they can unlock that version of him again in north London.
Savinho, meanwhile, offers a different threat: pace, direct running, and the ability to stretch defences in wide areas. For a De Zerbi side that thrives on sharp, vertical attacks, his profile fits almost perfectly.
A potential attack to fear
If Tottenham can close both deals before the window shuts, De Zerbi will suddenly have one of the most dangerous attacking units in the league at his disposal. The blend of new arrivals and existing talent would give him options he has not enjoyed since walking through the door.
It would also put weight behind his promise to the fans. He talked about a “bomba”. Two high-profile forwards from the champions would more than qualify.
For now, the work is clear: Spurs must convert encouraging talks with Manchester City into final agreements. The clock is ticking, the money is on the table, and the squad gap is obvious.
If Savinho and Marmoush do walk out at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in white this season, the question won’t be whether Spurs can chase the top four.
It will be how far this new, ambitious version of Tottenham can actually go.
