Tottenham Opens Talks for Loan Deal to Sign Franco Mastantuono
Tottenham Hotspur have started discussions over a potential loan deal for Franco Mastantuono, a promising young talent from Real Madrid. The club, managed by Roberto De Zerbi, has already signed six new players this summer but seeks to strengthen their attack further.
The 18-year-old Argentine, who arrived at Real Madrid in June 2025 for £38.5 million, is considered one of the brightest prospects in world football by club president Florentino Perez. Mastantuono can operate both as a right-winger and an attacking midfielder. Last season, he appeared in 23 LaLiga matches, starting in 11 of those games and netting three goals.
Loan Possibility with No Purchase Option
Real Madrid seems open to sending Mastantuono out on loan without an option to buy, aiming to find the best environment for his development. Among the clubs interested, Fulham is reportedly the leading candidate, but Tottenham has made initial contact to explore terms.
Other clubs keeping tabs on the player include Juventus, Inter Milan, Como, Porto, Benfica, Sporting CP, Villarreal, Rennes, Lyon, Monaco, Bayer Leverkusen, and RB Leipzig.
Adding Firepower on the Right Wing
After strengthening their defense and midfield, Tottenham looks to bolster attacking options, especially on the right flank. This need is amplified as Wilson Odobert is sidelined with an ACL injury, and Dejan Kulusevski’s return remains uncertain after over a year out.
Mohammed Kudus aims to make a strong comeback following limited appearances in 2026 due to injury. Mathys Tel could also fill a right-wing role if not deployed on the left. Other squad members like Manor Solomon and Yang Min-hyeok provide depth but may be transferred elsewhere given their lower standing in the pecking order.
Bringing Mastantuono on board would offer De Zerbi greater tactical flexibility. Besides playing wide, Mastantuono could slot into a central attacking midfielder position, providing competition and fresh options.
