Thomas Tuchel Predicts Harry Kane Will Reach 100 England Goals Within 13 Matches

Tuchel Confident Kane Will Join Elite 100-Goal Club for England

Thomas Tuchel believes Harry Kane is on track to join an exclusive group alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi by reaching 100 goals for England within just 13 more games. Kane, England’s captain, currently has 87 international goals after scoring in their 2-0 UEFA Nations League win against the Czech Republic. Only three men have passed the 100-goal mark internationally: Ronaldo, Messi, and Ali Daei.

Ambitious Target Set for Kane

The England manager expressed strong confidence in Kane's ability to close the gap swiftly. He remarked, "He is closing in. He scored again. 13 goals left." When asked if he truly expects Kane to hit the milestone, Tuchel was clear: "Thirteen matches. You will not get another Harry Kane, first of all. He is the highest level of goalscorer."

Warning About Life After Kane

Tuchel also offered a realistic view on the challenge England faces once Kane eventually retires. Despite Kane's current excellent form—scoring against Spain and the Czech Republic and netting six goals at the World Cup to help England finish third—the coach acknowledged replacing such a prolific scorer won’t be easy. "There will be someone else but it will not be Harry or a copy of Harry. We will find a solution when it comes to it but maybe not me. It might be another 10 years," Tuchel said.

Kane Staying Grounded Amid Record Chase

Although nearing the 100-goal landmark, Kane is keeping his focus on the present. Having already surpassed Wayne Rooney’s record with 53 goals three years ago, Kane is about to earn his 124th England cap against Croatia. He remains one of football’s top scorers, with 73 goals last season for Bayern Munich, and is a contender for the upcoming Ballon d’Or.

"I don’t like to think too far ahead, but of course, it’s getting closer. 100 goals for the national team would be something special without a doubt," Kane said. "It still feels like yesterday I just broke the record and I was away in Italy getting that one. The seasons come and they go quickly, so I just enjoy being out there with the boys on the pitch, wearing the Three Lions shirt and that won’t change."

Building on the Win Against Czechia

Kane reflected on his role and recent performance after scoring in the latest match. "The striker’s job is to score goals first and foremost, and I know that, and I love doing that. It’s still the best feeling there is," he explained. He added that sometimes his impact goes beyond scoring, influencing build-up play and passing.

On the team’s performance, Kane admitted there is room for improvement despite the victory: "The final product has to be perfect and I don’t think it was quite there. I still think we can improve in that sense, with the final cross or the final through ball. But in the end, a win’s a win. I’ve been around long enough in the team where sometimes you just have to win the game and move on and tonight was one of those."
