Tegan Bowie’s Hibernian story is over. Her Italian adventure starts now.
The 22-year-old winger has completed a permanent move to Serie A side Parma Calcio after the Italian club triggered a release clause in her contract, ending a spell in Edinburgh that turned her from academy prospect into title-winning mainstay.
From academy kid to title winner
Bowie grew up in the Hibs system before a stint at Celtic, but it was her 2023 return to Leith that truly defined her. Back in green and white, she didn’t just fill a role – she claimed one.
Across 101 appearances for Hibernian, Bowie scored nine goals, but the raw numbers barely touch her influence. In the 2024-25 campaign, as Hibs drove towards the title, she stepped into the spotlight: five goals, 10 assists, and a constant outlet on the flank. When Hibs needed width, energy and a bit of daring, Bowie usually provided it.
Her departure clearly stings. Head coach Joelle Murray did not hide that mix of pride and frustration as she spoke to club media.
"I'm disappointed to see Tegan leave under a clause that was in her contract from summer 2025," Murray admitted, before turning quickly to what Bowie has become. "She's grown and developed massively during her time at the club, both as a player and a person.
"I wish her nothing but success as she takes on this new challenge in a new country with a new team. Hopefully she can continue that incredible personal growth next season and beyond."
A release clause is ruthless by nature. Once Parma moved, Hibs could only watch a key part of their title-winning side walk away.
A player ready for a bigger stage
For Bowie, the move is a reward for that growth. A winger who thrives on space and licence to attack now steps into one of Europe’s most tactically demanding leagues. Her own reflection on her time at Hibs underlined why she feels ready.
"I've gotten to experience some of my favourite memories with this team and being able to have the freedom to express myself on the pitch has helped me in my development," she said.
That freedom has shaped her into a modern wide forward: direct, creative, and increasingly decisive in the final third. Parma are not buying potential alone; they are buying a player who has already delivered under pressure in a title race.
For Hibernian, the challenge is obvious. Replacing 101 games of experience, a trusted outlet on the wing and a player embedded in the club’s culture is no small task, especially when the timing is dictated by a clause rather than a carefully managed exit.
For Bowie, the equation is simpler. New league. New country. New expectations.
