Szoboszlai Commits Future to Liverpool with New Deal

Dominik Szoboszlai has tied his future to Liverpool, signing a new long-term contract that is expected to keep him at Anfield until the end of the 2030/31 season.

The 25-year-old midfielder, who wears the club’s iconic No 8 shirt, has agreed what is understood to be a five-year extension, a clear statement from both player and club about where they see the next phase of his career.

For Szoboszlai, it felt like a landmark moment.

“It’s maybe my biggest day,” he said, placing the new deal alongside two of the most significant moments of his life – his original move to Liverpool and the birth of his child. “In my football career, I can say this is in the top three. Very happy. [I] can’t wait to go again and again and again. I’m just happy to be here, as I said many times.”

Liverpool have every reason to share that enthusiasm. Signed from RB Leipzig three years ago, the Hungarian has grown into one of the central pillars of the team, a midfielder trusted to set the tempo and carry responsibility in big moments.

His influence only sharpened during a bruising 2025/26 campaign for the club. While Liverpool collectively fell short of expectations, Szoboszlai’s standards did not dip. He finished the season with 13 goals and 12 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions, numbers that underline both his creativity and his eye for goal from midfield.

The club recognised that impact by naming him Men’s Player of the Year, a personal accolade that arrived in stark contrast to the disappointment of the team’s overall campaign.
