Sky Sports Exits KSI-Backed Baller League Coverage

Sky Sports has pulled the plug on its live coverage of next season’s Baller League, stepping away from the high-profile six-a-side competition fronted by KSI, Idris Elba and a cast of former football greats including Ian Wright and Alan Shearer.

KSI’s Prime FC lifted last season’s title in a glitzy final at a sold-out O2 Arena, a showpiece that went out live on Sky and lit up social media. The numbers were strong, the engagement was loud, but the broadcaster has decided not to renew its deal. Those close to the talks describe the move as a “natural end” to the partnership rather than a reaction to performance.

Born in Germany in 2024, Baller League arrived with heavyweight backing from World Cup winners Mats Hummels and Lukas Podolski and wasted little time in spreading its footprint. The UK edition landed in 2025, bringing with it a dozen teams and a dugout packed with familiar faces: Jens Lehmann, Micah Richards and England Lioness Chloe Kelly all stepped into management roles as the format tried to blend elite experience with influencer energy.

The project has already crossed the Atlantic too. A US tournament was staged for the first time this year, underlining the organisers’ ambition to turn the concept into a global, youth-focused brand built on short, sharp football and big personalities.

This surge sits squarely in the slipstream of Gerard Piqué’s Kings League. The former Spain and Barcelona defender launched his seven-a-side brainchild in 2022; it now operates in eight countries and holds a broadcast agreement with Dazn, proving there is a serious market for bite-sized, celebrity-driven football.

For Baller League, the task now is clear. With Sky stepping away, organisers are understood to be sounding out a new broadcast partner to keep the competition on traditional screens. Whatever happens, the games will remain available on YouTube.

The cameras will still be rolling. The question is whose logo sits in the corner of the screen when the next season kicks off.
