Romelu Lukaku's Future: Fenerbahce's Interest Resurfaces

Romelu Lukaku’s future has swung back towards Istanbul once again.

According to reports on Friday, the Belgian striker has been offered to Fenerbahce for a second time this summer as he searches for a new club, with Saudi Arabian sides also circling.

Now 33 and entering the final year of his deal with Napoli, Lukaku finds himself at a crossroads. His 2025-2026 campaign never caught fire on a personal level, and he is not expected to be Massimiliano Allegri’s first-choice centre-forward when the new season kicks off.

Napoli, sensing the moment, are ready to cash out. Reports in Italy indicate the club would accept offers of up to 10 million euros for Belgium’s all-time top scorer. For a striker of his pedigree, it is a modest fee that underlines how sharply his stock has dipped.

Even so, his departure from the Diego Maradona stadium has yet to move beyond speculation. The door is open. Nobody has walked through it.

Fenerbahce back in the frame

In recent days, Lukaku has also been linked with a switch to MLS and Atlanta United, a move that would shift his career onto a very different track. Yet Friday brought a familiar name back into the conversation.

Doruk Tigemer of Turkish broadcaster TRT Spor reported that Lukaku has once again been offered to Fenerbahce. This is not a new flirtation. His name was first floated to the Istanbul giants during the winter transfer window and resurfaced around a month ago.

The pattern is clear: intermediaries are working, options are being placed on the table, and Fenerbahce keep being invited to take a seat.

So far, they have not.

No talks, only proposals

Despite the repeated offers, there have been no official negotiations between Fenerbahce and Napoli, nor between the Turkish club and Lukaku’s camp. For now, it is a proposal, not a pursuit.

Napoli are willing. Lukaku is available. Fenerbahce have been asked the question.

The next move, if there is to be one, belongs in Istanbul.
