Paris Saint-Germain have stepped up their pursuit of Ajax sensation Mika Godts – and the ripple has been felt across north London and the north-west.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been sounded out over a possible hijack of a deal that could cost around €60m, with intermediaries making sure England’s elite know exactly where the race stands.
Godts, just 21, has exploded in Amsterdam. In a turbulent season for Ajax, he delivered 32 goal contributions and turned a troubled campaign into a personal showcase. One of Europe’s sharpest young attackers has emerged from one of its most chaotic giants.
That kind of output doesn’t stay secret for long.
PSG close in – but leave the door ajar
PSG have already held what are described as positive talks over a move for the Belgium international after failing to land RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande. The French champions are also close to wrapping up a deal for Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, yet Luis Campos is not easing off.
He wants more firepower. Specifically, he wants Godts.
Luis Enrique sees the Ajax forward as a player who can slide neatly into his long-term blueprint, adding another layer of versatility and incision to a frontline already packed with talent. Godts is understood to be open to the idea of Paris, fully aware he would be walking into one of the most competitive attacking departments in world football.
As PSG’s interest hardened, intermediaries moved quickly. The message to the Premier League’s big hitters was clear: if you’re serious, now is the time.

All four English clubs have maintained varying levels of contact with Godts’ camp through the summer. None of them have walked away.

Manchester United’s brief is slightly different but no less relevant. They are prioritising a versatile forward who can operate across the front line, and Godts’ ability to play in multiple attacking roles has kept him firmly on their radar. Sources insist all four Premier League clubs retain a genuine interest.
For now, though, PSG are the ones at the table.
Ajax dig in – at a price
Ajax have seen this story before. A young star catches fire, Europe circles, and Amsterdam eventually waves goodbye. The club knows its place in the food chain, but it also knows its leverage.
The Dutch side value Godts at around €60m (£51m). That figure has not scared PSG off. Talks continue.
Technical director Jordi Cruyff underlined Ajax’s stance publicly at the weekend, making it clear this will not be a bargain raid.
“Ultimately, players like Godts will leave, but only at the right time and for the right price,” he told De Telegraaf. “We want to keep him in Amsterdam for at least another year. He is not for sale and otherwise very difficult to buy.”
