PSG Negotiates for Ajax Winger Mika Godts as Barcola Departure Looms
Paris Saint-Germain have started negotiations with Ajax for highly rated winger Mika Godts, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, as the French champions accelerate plans to reshape their attack.
The Ligue 1 side are already close to completing a deal for Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco after seeing off competition from Liverpool for the Frenchman’s signature. Now Godts has moved to the top of their list as the next piece in Luis Enrique’s evolving forward line.
Ajax dig in, but Godts says yes
Ajax are resisting. The Dutch club are determined to keep the Belgian youngster, who has rapidly become one of the Eredivisie’s standout attacking talents.
The player, though, is ready to move.
Godts has reportedly given the green light to a transfer to Paris after what have been described as “direct positive talks” with PSG’s transfer chief Luis Campos. Personal terms are not expected to be a major obstacle; the real battle lies with Ajax, who know exactly what they have on their hands.
Barcola on his way, gap on the left
The push for Godts comes against a clear backdrop: Bradley Barcola is likely to leave this summer.
The 21-year-old has informed PSG that he does not intend to extend his current deal, which runs until 2028. That stance has opened the door for Liverpool, who are currently leading the race for his signature and are expected to lodge an opening bid for the France international in the coming days.
If Barcola goes, Luis Enrique loses a key left-sided option. That prospect has sent PSG back into the market for a left winger who can both stretch defences and drift inside.
Godts fits that profile almost perfectly. A right-footed attacker who operates primarily from the left flank, he can also slide into an attacking midfield role, offering tactical flexibility and the ability to attack from different angles.
Hazard comparisons and a breakout season
The Ajax winger has built a reputation for explosive pace, tight close control and sharp creativity in the final third, coupled with a calm, clinical edge in front of goal. Those traits have already drawn comparisons in style to former Chelsea star Eden Hazard.
The numbers back up the hype.
Last season, Godts delivered 17 goals and 15 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions – a standout return for a player still at an early stage of his career. His impact was recognised across the league as he was voted the 2025/26 Eredivisie Talent of the Year, edging out other rising prospects, including AZ midfielder Kees Smit, himself on the radar of several major clubs.
Ajax know they are being asked to part with the league’s brightest young talent. PSG believe they are moving for the next headline act on the left wing.
Now it comes down to whether Paris’ need, and their money, can prise Godts out of Amsterdam before the new season kicks into gear.
